Travelling: A gateway to an open-mind and a school of life
08-04-2026
Since a young age a great gift bestowed upon me by God and my parents was the possibility to travel extensively and see the world in different historical periods and different socio-economic levels.
I remember 1999, when me and my parents travelled to New York City. On the Empire State Building after watching the immense twin towers standing towering in the big apple. I remember as a kid holding the huge cooked turkey leg in Disney World, Orlando.
Memories filled with different cultures and languages. Travelling from my home country of Italy across Europe, from Paris (France) to Northern Europe: Estonia, Norway, Finland and Netherlands (Amsterdam) towards Frankfurt (Germany). Visiting Bosnia Herzegovina and Montenegro. From the borders of the forests in Romania to the over-luxurious Montecarlo.
The beautiful mosque and tasty coffee of Casablanca (Morocco) and the incredible bazaar of Istanbul (Turkey).
At age of 16, I remember the academic experience at the Emmanuel College in Cambridge and visiting London, with its theatre and erratic Camden Town areas. At 18 I went to live in the USA, the ever-active Austin. The music town with its sixth street. That town did teach me a fair deal… remembering the hill upon which St Edward’s University stood still.
Then Milan, what a teacher it has been for me. My year at medical school in Milan, bonding with my family and academics. It taught me patience and constancy. It taught me maturity and the importance of reaching the goal.
After Milan, academics made me travel to USA and UK, Switzerland and again Italy. Brief work experiences of months in the medical sector in different cities in Italy.
The beautiful and rich cultured Russia before everything became complex.
Then my story of entrepreneurship which allowed me to make experiences which I did not think possible. The lessons that South Korea and Japan culture imparted me and the concept of respect.
Foods and colours. I witnessed the world in humble contexts and in most luxurious ways, the top 0.01 % way, how both ways witness it… and I can say that there are pros and cons for both ways of seeing the world. This beautiful, dark, blessed and evil-filled world we live in.
